In The Beginning
It all begins with an idea.
This whole thing started in 2018 when, after a musical performance down at the Arts Center, drummer extraordinaire and producer Greg Critchley came up to me and said, “We should start a horn band to play all the classic Tower of Power and Chicago stuff from the 70s and 80s, and you’re just the guy to have on-board!”
So we started getting it together. One thing we knew, it had to be excellent in every respect! Unfortunately we couldn’t find that magic right combination of performers to properly ‘staff’ an 11-piece band of this nature. So we struggled some, then Covid hit and the whole thing just fell apart.
By 2022 however, the recent massive influx of new residents to the Lowcountry brought a lot of really fine musicians to the area and I decided that it was time to try again.
